Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach has a history that has its roots in the art world. The beautiful landscapes and beach scenes that are present in Laguna Beach have drawn many artists to the location looking for artistic inspiration. One such famous artist, Norman St. Claire, made his mark in the art world by painting landscapes in the area and as his reputation grew so did the reputation of Laguna Beach. The influx of artists that were drawn to the area’s beauty led to the creation of the Laguna Beach Art Association in 1918 and has since given birth to the construction of the Laguna Art Museum and the creation of various art festivals such as the Festival of the Arts and Pageant of the Masters. However, Laguna Beach is not just for artists as the beaches in Laguna are often crowded with visitors looking to soak up the sun, enjoy the calm waters, or participate in one of the many beach volleyball games that are constantly a part of the beach scene in Laguna.

Venice Beach

Famous Venice Beach provides a colorful and diverse environment as this area plays host to Muscle Beach where weightlifters show off their bodies while getting a tan. The scene gets even crazier along Ocean Front Walk as sword swallowers, artists, and roller skaters abound. Venice Beach is also home to some of the most famous blacktop basketball courts in the United States and the local players are well known for their skills on the court. Those who want to cool off will find the water invigorating, but beware the area’s rip currents.

Hermosa Beach

This beach is best known for volleyball as many of the best players in California can be found jumping high above the nets in the Hermosa Beach sand. The Strand is the most happening location in Hermosa and those with kids should check out the Hermosa Penny Arcade which will provide hours of video game entertainment. Looking for a great bar in the area? Look no further than Hennessey’s Tavern which is an Irish style pub that provides its customers with a great view of the beach.
